Winnipeg police helicopter assists in weapons arrests
ctvwinnipeg.caThree men are facing weapons-related charges after police pulled over a vehicle on Sept. 4.
Around 11:00 p.m. Saturday, Winnipeg police responded to the Weston area in response to a break and enter in progress. Several police units and AIR1, the police service's helicopter, responded. Officers in the helicopter observed a vehicle driving erratically in the area. Units then pulled over the vehicle.
There were three people in the vehicle. Police determined they were not involved in the break and enter. Further investigation by officers resulted in the seizure of several weapons inside the vehicle including a firearm with ammunition and assorted prohibited edged weapons, say police.
A 20-year-old Winnipeg man is facing a number of charges including possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
A 27-year-old Lac du Bonnet man is also facing weapons charges.
And an 18-year-old man is facing a charge for driving dangerously.
