LAKESHORE, Ont. — Provincial police say three Toronto men have been arrested after 4,000 marijuana plants were found in the basement of a home just east of Windsor.

Police say officers arrived at a home in Lakeshore with a warrant Tuesday night and they are seizing the marijuana and equipment today.

Investigators say the hydro meter at the home had been bypassed.

Several charges have been laid against the three men, aged 46, 47 and 51, who are awaiting a bail hearing.

Their names have not been released.

Sgt. Rick Tonial says the plants are nearly a metre tall.

"The basement looks like a nursery of marijuana plants," he said.

"The whole basement is full of marijuana plants.

Tonial says police could end up seizing more than the pot.

"Our proceeds of crime unit is here. If we can determine that they bought something through the sale of drugs we can seize the cars, the home, things like that."

There was also a search at a home in Tecumseh and while no marijuana was found there, police say it appears plants were removed recently.
