There are aging rockers, and then there are aging rockers
Lisa LaFlamme, Chief Anchor and Senior Editor | CTV NewsHi everyone,
So we all know performers who've been at it for a while and are still rocking the mic every now and again.
I once interviewed David Bowie about "aging rockers" and he launched into a description of the mahogany rocker he and his young wife were refinishing for their baby's nursery room.

Bowie, 64, is well used to cracking off about his age as are so many others.
Mick Jagger probably comes prominently to mind. He's 68. Keith Richards is 67. And drummer Charlie Watts on the left is 70.
|
|---|
There's Roger Daltrey (67) and Pete Townshend (66) of The Who.
|
|---|
Robert Plant (63) and Jimmy Page (67) of Led Zeppelin.
|
|---|
And of course, Canadian poet, singer-songwriter and novelist Leonard Cohen (77).
|
|---|
But there's a trio we'll feature in tonight's newscast who leave all of the above in the dust.
When you're rockin' the charts well into your 80s, there's gotta be something in the water!
Tonight at 11, Todd Battis will look at a mini trend of octogenarian entertainers making a splash on the charts and on YouTube.
A few videos of artists that Todd will feature in his report:
Tony Bennett, at the tender age of 85, in a duet with Lady Gaga:
Betty White, 89, rapping ‘I'm Still Hot" with Luciana.
And last but not least, Canadian William Shatner being, well, William Shatner -- in a Kafkaesque rendition of Queen's ‘Bohemiam Rhapsody'. (‘Holy Shatner!')
Who's your favourite rocker/entertainer who is perhaps advanced in years but still strong in the impact they have on you? Let me know.
See you tonight,
