The Detroit Red Wings and forward Todd Bertuzzi are reportedly close to completing a two-year contract extension.

The Detroit Free Press says the deal could be announced as early as Thursday.

Pat Morris, Bertuzzi's agent, told the newspaper on Wednesday that "we're working at it, and getting closer."

The 37-year-old veteran has 12 goals and 17 assists and is plus-21 in 54 games for the Red Wings this season. The veteran is playing in his full third season in Detroit.

Bertuzzi is playing out the final year of a two-year, $3.875 million contract, and is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
