More than 100 people out of work as plant closes suddenly
CTV Saskatoon
A meat processing plant in Saskatoon has closed its doors, leaving more than 100 people out of work.
Employees arrived for work at the New Food Classics plant on 60th Street Tuesday morning, only to find a notice informing them the plant had been closed.
In January, the union representing the workers was made aware that the employer was under creditor protection and was seeking a new buyer.
As of Friday, it looked as though New Food Classics had found a buyer. But now, management is nowhere to be found.
The CEO and the Board of Directors of New Food Classics have all resigned from the company.
