Ottawa paramedics are thanking a young child for being able to call 911 when their babysitter fell ill Sunday.

The babysitter, who was looking after five children, was feeling sick when the call came in around 1:38 p.m.

Paramedics said the child "acted quickly and maturely" to give them the information they needed to respond.

The 27-year-old female babysitter was taken to hospital in serious condition.
