The first witnesses are expected to take the stand Wednesday in the first degree murder trial of Michael Briscoe, who is being re-tired for the killing of 13-year-old Nina Courtepatte, and tried for the death of Ellie May Meyer.
Courtepatte was lured from West Edmonton Mall and killed at a rural golf course in 2005.
A month later, Meyer's body was found in a field in Strathcona County. An agreed statement of facts included the name of Joseph Laboucan who was convicted in the killings of Courtepatte and Meyer.
Briscoe's trial is expected to last three to six weeks.
