Edmonton Capitals suspend play for upcoming season

The Edmonton Capitals baseball club will not play during the upcoming 2012 baseball season.
In a news release, Rexall Sports and Entertainment say they've suspended play because only four teams being registered in their North American Baseball League division. The northern division of the NAL consisted of 10 teams in 2009, but has dwindled down to four this year.
The Calgary Vipers unofficially suspended operations at the end of the 2011 season after players reportedly were unable to cash their pay cheques.
The Capitals won the NAL championship last year beating the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings.
