Investigators have identified the body discovered in a muddy Abbotsford field last weekend as a 31-year-old Edmonton resident who was known to police.
A motorist spotted Jimmy Chau's body Sunday morning in the 33600-block of Farmer Road lying about 10 metres from the shoulder.
An autopsy has been conducted but the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is not releasing the cause of death, though Sgt. Jennifer Pound said Chau's injuries are consistent with a homicide and his death appears to be gang-related.
The deceased's next of kin have been notified.
Anyone with information on the file is asked to call the IHIT tip line at 1-877-551-IHIT or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
