A seven-year-old girl from Langley who is believed to have overdosed on a date-rape drug on Saturday night is still recovering in the hospital.

RCMP spokeswoman Cpl. Holly Marks said in a written statement that Serious Crime officers are interviewing people Monday to find out how the girl could have ingested the drug.

On Saturday night, the child's parents found her unconscious in her room, and called 911. She was taken to Surrey Memorial Hospital, and later transferred to BC Children's Hospital. She is expected to make a full recovery, Marks said.

Police initially said the girl might have unknowingly drank from a water bottle that contained GHB, the date-rape drug.

However, police are still waiting for a toxicology report to confirm that, said Marks.

No charges have been recommended yet. The Ministry of Children and Families is also looking into the incident.
